WHISKY BARREL AGED HOT SAUCE - A LIMITED EDITION RELEASE

Our spiciest partnership yet! Melbourne’s most notorious hot sauce, aged in barrels that were dripping wet with our award-winning whisky. Rich and spicy notes from the barrel staves have generously seeped in. The result? A full-bodied, tongue tingling sauce.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE // Strong pepper and shiraz vinegar up front. Notes of cardamom and bay leaf.
PALATE // After the initial heat, sweet banana and cherry characters shine through.
FINISH // A definitive oak and whisky kick

Our whiskies belong on the dinner table… and it seems they work well in sauces too! Our Whisky Barrel Aged Hot Sauce is bangingly delicious when splashed on a gourmet hot dog or used in a marinade for BBQ meats. Our favourite pairing? Drizzled over a bacon and egg burger stack and splashed into a Bloody Muriel (our very Melbourne take on the Bloody Mary cocktail).

BLOODY MURIEL

Bright acidity and habanero spice rounded out with sweet wine characters.
Ingredients:
  • 40ml Two-Fold Double Grain Whisky
  • 5ml Red wine vinegar (optional)
  • 5 dashes of Hot Sauce
  • 10ml Sweet sherry (optional)
  • Slice of cucumber
  • Pinch of salt & pepper
  • 15ml Fresh lime juice
  • 80ml Tomato juice
Method:
Add all ingredients into a shaker tin with ice and gently roll the tin for 15 seconds. Strain into a highball glass over ice and garnish with a slice of cucumber and lemon wedge.

BERTIE STREET SMASH

Bright mango complements the beautiful tropical notes of Two-Fold. Lightly seasoned with Barrel Aged Hot Sauce for a kick!
Ingredients:
  • 40ml Two-Fold Double Grain Whisky
  • 10ml Fino Sherry
  • 20ml Fresh lime juice
  • 20ml Sugar syrup
  • 3 slices of cucumber
  • 2 dashes of Hot Sauce
Method:
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake. Double strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a cucumber slice.

HOT COPPER

Clean, green flavours with a hint of dry sherry and just enough habanero spice.
Ingredients:
  • 30ml Two-Fold Double Grain Whisky
  • 60ml Cloudy apple juice
  • 60ml Ginger beer
  • 2 dashes of Hot Sauce
Method:
Build all ingredients into a highball glass with lots of ice. Garnish with a lime wedge and a red chilli.

MC DAQUIRI

Apple sweetness and ginger spice. Habanero heat to finish.
Ingredients:
  • 45ml Two-Fold Double Grain Whisky
  • 25ml Lime juice
  • 15ml Sugar
  • 10ml Mango Puree
  • 5 dashes of Hot Sauce
Method:
Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Double strain into a coupe glass.

We craft whisky for the bold, creative and irrepressibly curious food lovers out there and we take much of our inspiration from Melbourne’s eclectic and diverse food and drink culture.

Here at Starward we love Melbourne Hot Sauce’s approach to handcrafting small batch and all natural sauces. This limited release sauce was jammed full of Habanero and Jalapenos, lime, cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaves. Fresh cherries and banana were added to the mix to shine a spotlight on the fruity and tropical characters found in our red wine barrel aged whiskies. Aged at our Port Melbourne distillery in barrels that previously held our signature Nova Single Malt. We think we’ve said enough!
